Educational Materials
The Polar Regions have inspired generations of explorers, scientists and artists. They are places of extreme beauty, where we can truly experience nature, and they provide unique locations for high-end scientific research that can not be conducted anywhere else on the planet. These areas also stand as warnings about rapid environmental change: the effects of climate change are magnified in the Polar Regions, and these areas are key drivers of global processes. The lessons learned from dealing with these issues at the poles will affect how we will address these same issues in other areas of the globe.
As the next generation of polar scientists and decision-makers, young people have a key role to play in this work. These educational resources have been developed by early career polar researchers for use as examples for the Polar Contests. They aim to inspire students to learn more about the Polar Regions and get involved in addressing the environmental issues surrounding these areas.
